Wow – what a weekend!
The Men’s Retreat was so well put together at the scenic Laurel Ridge Conference Center. The content was excellent for discussion and challenge. The thirty-three participants ranged from 15 years old to 88! The theme of “The Redeemed Man” continues in the Sunday morning ABF; meanwhile, the women are studying “Women Helping Women” with teachings by Paul Tripp and have had strong participation.
Sunday morning’s worship was one for the history books! I’ve been told the baptism video will probably go viral with a caption something like “head-banger.” Oh my! Thank you, Jess and Brian, for your public confession of following Jesus Christ. He was magnified in our worship on the Lord’s Day. The Father’s Spirit is moving in hearts and minds of the younger generation and bringing them into the household of faith. The church is encouraged and joyfully moving forward and Godward with strong family bonds. There is another baptism planned for September 27th, so if you have trusted Jesus Christ and want to take the step of obedience in public confession of your faith, please reach out to me or any of the elders.
Sunday night we also had a Grace Distinctives class with many who have recently begun to attend Grace and want to get a strong sense of our DNA. The 2.5 hour event is insightful, interactive, and encouraging with plentiful opportunity for questions and insights. If you have not attended a Grace Distinctives event, I would encourage you to do so. Whether you’re new here or have been here for many years, Grace Distinctives gives you a strong picture of the life and mission of our church. The next one is scheduled for September 13th.
More good news! This week our building plans are complete and are being submitted for permits. Giving the normal amount of time allotted for the permit process, it is projected that we will start construction on July 15th. Mark your calendars for Sunday, July 12th as we will plan a ground-breaking ceremony that morning in celebration of God’s direction and provision.
